Katz Studio

Photographed a new set of Alex’s paintings. Above is 3 Dancers with Don, one of Alex’s assistants prepping the cartoon drawing for shooting.

Tulips (Studio)

Just got a beauty dish for headshots and portraits and wanted to see what the quality of light was like on objects, like this bouquet of tulips. Mola beauty dishes have a unique blend of hard and soft light with little background spill.
Matzah Balls (D.C.)

My mother’s matzah balls ready for Passover seder. Great soup and delicious matzah balls--not too dense, not too light--and flavored with handmade shmaltz!
Magnolias (Union Square)

Rented two 100mm macro lenses during Adorama’s Passover break: the Nikkor 105mm F2.8 VR and Zeiss’s 100mm f2. Both are great, both are expensive. Will have to run some more tests in the studio to see whether either beats my 85mm tilt shift for sharpness. These were taken with a lowly D40 body.

Monument to Andy (Union Square)

There’s a new statue of Andy Warhol right near his old studio, what is now Barnes & Noble, on 17th Street and Union Square.
More Sanibel

I’d forgotten about a few point and shoot photos of other animals encountered on sanibel, turtles (above and below) and alligators (below).

Cousins (D.C.)

Max and his cousin Elena. Together they’re 100% Japanese (a quarter on the left and three-quarters on the right).
